The son of Fortify quickly bounced back from his late-April disappointment, leading every step of the way in the Clásico Coronel Francisco Bolognesi (L) while reaffirming his class on the Monterrico turf course

LIMA, Peru (Special to Turf Diario).- Horses do not always get an immediate opportunity for redemption. Even less so when the previous disappointment came in a race as important as the Gran Premio Latinoamericano (G1), where expectations were high and the result fell well short of what had been anticipated.

For Puppi's Husband, however, that opportunity came quickly—and the Argentine-bred colt made the most of it.

Just over a month after his lackluster performance in South America's premier international event, the son of Fortifyreturned to center stage with a convincing victory in Saturday's Clásico Coronel Francisco Bolognesi (L), contested over 1800 meters on the turf at Hipódromo de Monterrico.

Carrying the colors of Stud Jet Set and racing under the supervision of his owner while trainer Juan Suárez serves a suspension, the Haras Vacación graduate made his intentions clear from the outset.

With Carlos Trujillo expertly managing every move, the bay went straight to the front and never allowed his rivals to pose a serious threat.

Comfortably dictating terms throughout, Puppi's Husband controlled the pace through fractions of :24.69, :49.43, 1:16.58, and 1:42.64 before entering the stretch with plenty left in reserve.

Once asked for his effort, he quickly put the race away, drawing off with authority to defeat his stablemate Il Omare (Il Campione) by four lengths.

The final time was 1:54.97 for the 1800 meters, a performance that once again highlighted the Argentine's strengths when competing over the Monterrico turf against rivals suited to his level.

The victory was the fourth from nine starts for Puppi's Husband and increased his earnings to S/ 94,658.

Beyond the numbers, however, the success carried special significance because it allowed him to quickly erase the memory of his disappointing Latinoamericano effort, a race he had entered as one of the leading contenders following a series of performances that had established him among the top middle-distance and staying turf horses in Peru.

By Fortify out of Día Feliz (Roman Ruler), the bay added another noteworthy chapter to the growing international success of Argentine breeding while continuing the outstanding run enjoyed by Argentine-breds throughout the region's major racing centers.

His defeat in the Latinoamericano had raised questions.

The Bolognesi provided answers.

And they were emphatic.

Puppi's Husband regained confidence, returned to the winner's circle, and confirmed that he remains one of the benchmark performers whenever the conversation turns to turf route racing at Monterrico.
