Queen Elinor, the filly who scored impressively in last weekend’s Clásico Francisco J. Beazley (G2) over 1800 meters on the dirt at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo, has suffered an injury and will be sidelined for at least the remainder of the season.

The news, reported by journalist Héctor Torres on the radio program El Derby and in Revista Palermo, adds to a striking string of absences among the leading members of the new generation. The list includes G1 winners Amor de Contramano (Gouverneur Morris), Gardel Pass (Distinctiv Passion) and Drive Joy (Fortify), the latter two finishing 1-2 in the Gran Premio Polla de Potrillos (G1), the opening leg of Argentina’s Triple Crown.

The Señor Candy filly sustained a fracture in her left foreleg and is scheduled for surgery Thursday under the care of Indio Espinoza, one of the country’s top specialists. While prognosis is positive for a future return, recovery will be lengthy.

Bred by Haras Rodeo Chico for Stud Chúcaros and trained by Luis A. Sánchez, Queen Elinor debuted with a third-place finish in late April, before stepping up a month later to break her maiden by seven lengths on the turf at San Isidro.

With just that single experience, she tackled the Gran Premio Estrellas Juvenile Fillies (G1), finishing second to Charm (Strategos), and later repeated as runner-up to Moon Frank (Gidu) in the Clásico General Luis María Campos (G2), who would later take the Gran Premio Polla de Potrancas (G2).

Those efforts set the stage for her triumph in the Francisco J. Beazley, establishing her as a leading candidate for the Gran Premio Selección (G1)—but the injury has now interrupted her campaign, putting a pause on what had been a promising trajectory.
