The Distinctive Passion colt could make his graded debut in the United States, although he is also entered for an optional claiming allowance on Wednesday, September 10, at Kentucky Downs

NEW KENT, Virginia (Special for Turf Diario).- Argentine-bred runners continue to make their presence felt on U.S. tracks, particularly in stakes company.
This Saturday, over the turf at Colonial Downs, Quereme Pass is slated to run in the Da Hoss Stakes (L), a name that may not yet be on most radars, but one that connections hope can go a long way.
A winner in three of his five starts at Palermo, the Distinctive Passion colt has shown competitive form in Gulfstream Park allowance company, and now takes a step up in class, facing nine rivals in memory of the two-time Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) winner. The race will be contested over 1,100 meters on the turf.
It is worth noting that Quereme Pass is also entered in an optional claiming allowance next Wednesday at Kentucky Downs, where Lanfranco Dettori is slated to ride. For the Da Hoss, the mount goes to Edwin González, who will travel specifically for the assignment for trainer José Francisco D’Angelo.
In his most recent outing, Quereme Pass was narrowly beaten by three-quarters of a length by Goes the Clown (Mo Town) in a $25,000 optional claiming allowance with $57,000 in purse money over a mile of turf, meaning he now drops sharply in distance.
The one to beat appears to be Witty (Great Notion), a veteran with 11 career wins and nearly $900,000 in earnings. He comes off a victory in the Van Clief Stakes (L) at Colonial Downs and boasts several other stakes triumphs.
Dangerous opposition includes Alogon (California Chrome), ridden by Paco López, dropping in class off a strong third in the Jaipur Stakes (G1) and fourth in the Troy Stakes (G2) at Saratoga, and also a multiple stakes winner.
Rounding out the key contenders is Doncho (Mo Town), winner of the Gold Fever Stakes (L) at Belmont and most recently victorious in an optional claiming allowance at Ellis Park.
