LA PLATA.- When it looked as though the early effort would be enough for Beauty Check (Safety Check), the favorite Qué Buena Bcame flying late to leave her rival empty-handed and capture the Clásico Curtida Nistel (1200m, heavy dirt), Tuesday’s feature at La Plata run over a near-unraceable surface.

Ridden by Lucas Guida, the daughter of Qué Vida Buena extended her outstanding form, adding a second stakes victory to her résumé following her recent score in the G3 Arturo A. Bullrich.

Up front, Beauty Check, with Francisco Lavigna aboard, battled for the lead alongside Sprint Back (Nickelback) and Tac-Tac (Manipulator), carving out splits of :24.14 and :48.90. Turning for home, she shook clear and opened up a seemingly decisive three-length advantage.

But the toughest part was still to come.

Inside the final furlong, Beauty Check began to feel the effects of her early exertions, and that’s when Qué Buena B’s charge proved unstoppable. With perfect timing, she swept past to score by one length at the wire, with Tac-Tac finishing another 2 1/2 lengths back in third. The final time was 1:14.05.

Trained by Eduardo Corsiglia for Stud Levalle and bred by Enrique Mascotena and Oscar Mateu, Qué Buena B has now established herself as one of the leading sprinters at La Plata.

On a day when conditions were against everyone, she showed she had both the class—and the grit—to rise above them.
