Redentor Cat aims to rediscover his top form in the Especial Lordling

The son of Knockout stands out as one of the primary contenders in the feature race of a subpar card at La Plata, which comprises just 10 races. Opreso arrives from Palermo backed by high-level credentials and could prove to be a dangerous threat

LA PLATA.— Offering just 10 races on the program and a generally modest overall level of quality, the local racetrack presents a Tuesday card whose primary attraction will be the Especial Lordling, contested over 1,100 meters and reserved for 5-year-old and older horses with 3 or more wins. It is a feature that, while lacking absolute star power, offers several intriguing storylines, highlighted by Redentor Cat attempting to regain the prominent role he enjoyed in his prior outings.
The son of Knockout comes off a slightly sub-par effort, finishing fifth by 5 1/2 lengths behind Payucano (Mask) in the Especial Arrayán—a performance that fell short of his established form. Indeed, the sprinter had previously built a solid streak of strong performances, headlined by his victory in the Especial Sociedad Hipódromo Chile and a runner-up finish in the Handicap Día del Veterinario, alongside a placing in the Clásico Carlos Pellegrini.
Carrying 56 kilograms, Redentor Cat finds an ideal opportunity to get back on track, though much of his fortune will depend on how the race unfolds. As a horse accustomed to coming from off the pace, he requires a demanding early tempo upfront to maximize his late closing kick over the final stretch. If those conditions materialize and he recaptures his top form, he will have plenty to say in the outcome.
One of his most respected opponents is Opreso (Endorsement), who will make his track debut at El Bosque after campaigning exclusively at the main venues. Trained at Palermo by María Fernanda Álvarez and Walter Suárez, he breaks from post 1 and carries a light assignment of just 54 kilograms—a factor that could prove significant.
Although he enters following a fifth-place finish in condition company, his overall credentials include efforts of genuine stakes quality. Last season, he finished runner-up in the Clásico Lamadrid and earned a valuable fourth-place finish in the Gran Premio Suipacha (G1), tackling some of the top turf sprinters in the country. If he successfully adapts that class to the La Plata surface, he poses a major threat.
Another contender warranting attention is Equal Romano (Equal Legítimo, 54 kg), a horse that has mixed good and poor efforts recently but has demonstrated sufficient talent to be dangerous. His inconsistency calls for a degree of caution, though writing him off completely would be a mistake.
The field is completed by Noni Letal (Don Letal, 58 kg), Cacal Island (Lizard Island, 54 kg), and Lindo Pibe(Lenovo, 54 kg), a trio hoping to capitalize on an open contest to secure a breakthrough result. Curioso Azteca (Empire Aztec, 54 kg) rounds out the seven-runner field seeking top honors.
