Approaching her seventh birthday, the daughter of Long Island Sound will seek another valuable victory on the auxiliary dirt track

Another typical Wednesday afternoon awaits at Hipódromo de San Isidro, with modest racing once again dominating the landscape. At the top of the limited stakes action sits the Especial Seductor, contested over 2000 meters on dirt for mares aged five and older with three or more victories, offering a purse that—once deductions are applied—will barely cover a couple of months of training expenses.
The race appears perfectly set up for Reina Casada (Long Island Sound) to make her superior class and experience count, even though she will shoulder topweight of 58 kilos. The Enrique Martín Ferro trainee arrives in sharp form after capturing the mile-long Especial Neápolis a little over a month ago by 1 1/2 lengths over Lost Beach (Treasure Beach).
On paper, this assignment looks somewhat easier than that one, although the chestnut mare—now approaching her seventh birthday—has never been the most reliable performer in the world.
Trying to spoil the script is Gneisenau (Winning Prize, 56), who seeks to regain momentum after a pair of below-par efforts. Runner-up to Gigantografía (Bodemeister) in Palermo’s Handicap Tatán, she will have Brian Enrique aboard.
The upset candidate may be Farra Girl (Greenspring, 56), who has won four of her last eight starts and most recently finished third behind now-G1 winner Herd Immunity (Forge) in the Handicap Juan Carlos Noriega.
And for those chasing an even bigger price, perhaps Vedette Queen (Suggestive Boy, 56) can rebound after a comeback effort in which she never truly fired.
