With an inspired Wilson Moreyra in the irons, the Haras La Pasión-bred colt left no doubt in the Clásico Lawrie and is now turning up the heat in the sprinters’ rankings

Steadily but surely, Hiran is carving out a place for himself among the elite turf sprinters in Argentina. With every start, the son of champion Santillano (Easing Along) continues his ascent through the division's ever-competitive rankings, gaining both experience and credibility as he builds toward bigger prizes.

On a rain-softened course and facing a quality group, the Stud Inclusión colorbearer turned in another polished performance Sunday, capturing the G3 Clásico Santiago Lawrie (1000m, turf) with authority to celebrate the national holiday in style.

Near the end of his 3-year-old season, Hiran delivered what may have been the most complete effort of his already outstanding résumé. Now a winner in 5 of his 7 outings, the Haras La Pasión homebred collected his second Group victory of the season, having taken the G3 Clásico General Viamonte under similar circumstances back in February.

Prepared by Fabián David, who recently returned to the training ranks, and expertly handled by Wilson MoreyraHiranbroke alertly and seized command early. Once in front, he never looked back. Camuflaje (Orpen) tried to mount a late challenge, but a couple of timely reminders from Moreyra sealed the deal, with the favorite always holding safe.

At the wire, Hiran had 2 lengths in hand over Camuflaje, with the filly Enjoy Dancing (Hi Happy) finishing a solid third, another 2 lengths behind. Favored Yukon Jack (Remote) failed to fire and settled for fifth. Final time was a sharp 58.73 over testing ground.

Out of the Distorted Humor mare Hail to HumourHiran is the fourth graded stakes winner produced by his dam. She is also responsible for dual G1 winners Humor Acido and Humorada Negra (both by Emperor Richard), as well as the multiple stakes-winning Humorada Lírica (Sidney's Candy). Her daughter Humorista (Roman Ruler) is the dam of standout Humor Sabatino (Sabayón), adding even more depth to an already decorated family.

As Hiran continues to progress, the dream of reaching the very top of the sprinting ranks seems more and more within reach. And judging by what he's shown so far, there's every reason to believe he just might get there.
