Romana Craf Seeks Return to Winning Ways in Espirita; Hiran Faces Tough Rivals in Necochea

In a relatively quiet racing weekend, San Isidro will present its strongest card of the week this Sunday, featuring a solid lineup of 3-year-old maiden events and two stakes that remain subject to turf condition decisions.
The Clásico Espirita (L-2000m) for fillies and mares four and up under handicap conditions will serve as a stepping stone toward the G1 Copa de Plata later in the season. Carrying top weight of 60kg, Romana Craf (Mastercraftsman)looks to continue her comeback after finishing a narrow second, beaten half a head by Lacanian Ink (Fragotero), in the G2 Partícula.
Among her main rivals is the always-dangerous Knows All (Le Blues, 55.5kg), who finished a respectable fourth against males in the G1 Gran Premio 25 de Mayo, and Luz Delito (Lizard Island, 59.5kg), a G2 Apertura winner earlier this year at Palermo but who underperformed in her last two starts. The improving Argomassa (Lucullan, 54kg) will test stakes waters after consistent allowance form with a light impost.
Meanwhile, the Clásico Necochea (L-1000m), also a handicap but down the straight turf course, will see Hiran (Santillano, 61kg) return to his preferred distance and surface. Winner of the G3 General Viamonte and G3 Santiago Lawrie, he finished a strong third behind Le Cornette (Emmanuel) and three-time champion Labrado (Le Blues) in the G1 Estrellas Sprint last time out.
His competition includes classy sprinters such as Filoso Class (Filoso Emperor, 60kg), Camuflaje (Orpen, 59kg), and Coraje Gaucho (Lenovo, 60.5kg), the latter seeking redemption after a subpar seasonal debut, remembering his runner-up effort by just half a length to Arellano (Angiolo) in last December’s G1 Alzaga Unzué.
