Representing Stud Rubio B., Roshita scored a comfortable victory in the Gran Premio Jorge de Atucha (G1), kicking off a formidable Group 1 double for sire Gouverneur Morris

If getting there is hard but staying on top is harder, Roshita passed the test with flying colors. The filly who had dazzled with a dominant performance in the Clásico Saturnino J. Unzué (G1) over 1200 meters stretched out to 1500 meters in Saturday’s Gran Premio Jorge de Atucha (G1) and reaffirmed her position as the leading juvenile filly at the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo.
Now undefeated in three starts, she came into the race with a few whispers trailing her. Rumors circulated that her most recent workout hadn’t gone well. But trainer Juan C. Etchechoury Jr. was quick to set the record straight: “She was doing great. What happened is the workout didn’t come out as planned, and that threw everything off. It’s not that she worked badly, the breeze just didn’t go as scheduled. But the final breeze was excellent, all the tests we ran came back perfect, and that’s why we ran her. She never showed any signs that something was wrong or that she wasn’t where I wanted her to be.”
With that cleared up, Roshita went out and silenced any doubters. Tracking pacesetter Go Clari Go (Strategos) closely from the start, she took command as soon as they turned for home and never looked back.
Under a motionless William Pereyra, Roshita cruised to the wire without being asked and stopped the clock in 1:28.58, crossing the finish line 6 lengths clear of Go Clari Go, who held off Gata Frank (Gidu) by a head for second.
Bred by Haras La Pasión and racing for Stud Rubio B., Roshita gave the Benedicto family, their farm, and their partners in the promising young sire Gouverneur Morris (Constitution) their first Group 1 win with his very first crop. The celebration wouldn’t last long—just a few races later, Gouverneur Morris struck again with Amor de Contramanoin the Gran Premio Montevideo (G1).
Out of Rosheen (Easing Along), a half-sister to stakes winners Ramblera (Easing Along) and Raons (Lizard Island), Roshita has taken clear control of the 2-year-old filly division at Palermo and now heads toward her next big target: the Gran Premio Estrellas Juvenile Fillies (G1) at the end of June, with an extra 100 meters to cover. She’ll be the one they all have to beat.
