Friday’s card at Hipódromo de San Isidro featured a strong group of interesting allowance races, including several maiden events for 2-year-olds over 1400 meters, with an eye toward the upcoming Carreras de las Estrellas and the major stakes of the second half of the season.

Among the colts, the first to shine was Sam Bushido (Pneumatic x Sambullida, by Sunray Spirit, Haras Abolengo), who confirmed the promise he had already shown when runner-up to Cardo Cardona (Strategos) in the Clásico Chevalier (G2).

The colt from Stud Grupo 4 defeated Silk Sonic (Uncle Chuck) by three-quarters of a length in the first division of the Premio Santillano, although the margin was somewhat deceptive. Advancing along the rail in the stretch, Sam Bushido encountered traffic trouble before eventually finding room, and once clear he reached the wire completely under control, with Gustavo Calvente wisely saving something for future engagements.

Prepared by Nicolás Martín Ferro—though saddled Friday by his father Enrique—the colt stopped the clock in 1:27.70.

In the fillies’ division, meanwhile, Aki (Cima de Triomphe x Access Code, by Twirling Candy, Haras La Leyenda)improved dramatically off her debut seventh-place finish and dominated comfortably, drawing off by four lengths over Chalet D’Oro (Medaglia d’Oro) while recording 1:26.39, fully 1.31 seconds faster than Sam Bushido’s time.

Francisco Lavigna delivered an excellent ride aboard the Stud La Rocinha representative, who is trained by Pablo Sahagián.

Among the juvenile fillies, the opening division of the Premio Feel the Race saw The Great Love (The Great Day x Embracing Love, by Lucky Roberto) build upon a promising debut and the mountain of support she attracted at the windows by wiring the field and defeating Empress Mary (Uncle Chuck) by two lengths in 1:27.70.

Bred by Haras Firmamento, she is trained by Lucas Gaitán and was ridden by Eduardo Ortega Pavón.

Finally, in the second division for the 2-year-old fillies came the most impressive performance of the afternoon courtesy of Ruby Rose (Il Campione x Louise, by Agnes Gold, Haras Río Dois Irmaos).

Making her debut, the filly produced a spectacular impression with a devastating late charge, sweeping past the field midway down the stretch before drawing off to defeat Lovefest (Le Blues) by six lengths in 1:25.84, by far the fastest time posted among the juveniles on the program.

The Stud RDI filly is trained by Carlos D. Etchechoury and was piloted by Rodrigo Bascuñán.
