SAN ISIDRO (Special for Turf Diario).- This Wednesday, there will be 13 races at the Hipódromo de San Isidro. Of these, 10 will be in the alternative category and 2 for veteran maidens, data that is the purest reflection of the path of mediocrity that Argentine turf is traveling, transformed into numbers with some oases in between, such as the one experienced last Saturday at the Jockey Club Argentino stage.

The schedule of activity will be completed with a new edition of the Clásico Calidoscopio (L-2400 m), a handicap for horses 4 years old and up that is part of the road to the Gran Premio 25 de Mayo (G1) but which, inexplicably, is always programmed on the dirt, even though it is a time of year where rains are scarce and the grass is growing...

Well, as has been the rule for some time now, the turnout was extremely low at the top level, perhaps as a result of the fact that good conditional races are canceled again and again, failing to project new names. Thus, the memory of the unforgettable crack of Stud Doña Pancha will have only 5 contenders, in a group where quality goes hand in hand with the date.

If it is about merits, the occasion is ideal for Rumor de Fuego (Daddy Long Legs, 57 1/2), although he will give several kilos of advantage to all his rivals. From Stud Comalal, he has been struggling to regain the form he showed between late 2024 and early 2025, in a harvest that included his victory in the Clásico Comparación (L) and a second in the Clásico Clausura (G2), always in La Plata. In his last outing, he was third to Unico Happy (Hi Happy) over the 1800 meters of the Especial Craganour, and now he returns to the long distances with expectations.

The rising Poema Lírico (Forge, 52 1/2) comes out to challenge him, who, after a very good victory in La Plata, went to Palermo to finish second, 4 lengths behind Castañón Rim (Remote), in the same race where Travel Pass (Fortify, 50 1/2), also entered here, was fourth another 6 lengths back. The mare Playa Chopera (Treasure Beach, 50) and Santo Rey (Santillano, 52 1/2) complete the group.
