The son of Señor Candy, bred by Haras La Concordia, romps home in the Clásico Francisco y Alberto Milia

MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay (Special para Turf Diario).- Sí Señor confirmed his dominance in Maroñas' middle-distance races with another superb performance this Sunday, following his impressive victory on January 6 in the Gran Premio Pedro Piñeyrúa (G3). The son of Señor Candy and Juilliard (Not for Sale) took control easily in the Clásico Francisco y Alberto Milia, the day's most important race, held over 1500 meters on standard dirt.
Jockey José da Silva never had to ask much from the chestnut, who races for Stud Los 2 and is trained by Antonio Cintra, with his horses presented by Jorge Rey in recent times. Sí Señor broke well from the gate and never looked back, cruising to victory in effortless fashion. If he had wanted, he could have left his rivals in another zip code.
He covered the initial 400 meters in 22.66 seconds, the 800 meters in 46.75 seconds, and the 1200 meters in 1:10.55, all while withstanding little pressure from Apache Cat (Forestry), who attempted to shadow him but failed to make any significant move.
As the field approached the stretch, Sí Señor pulled away and, with da Silva simply guiding him home, the margin at the line was 2 lengths over El Principio (Estruendo), who had also finished as runner-up behind Sí Señor in January. A further 1 3/4 lengths back was Apache Cat in third, while Justice Cat (The Leopard), once a leading figure in the division, finished last, a staggering 19 lengths behind, showing clear signs of decline at 7 years old.
“The track is a minute and a half of life. You live it all week, from the moment they start galloping to these beautiful moments," said Álvaro Mattos, the winner's owner, surrounded by his family.
Bred by Haras La Concordia for Haras de La Pomme, Sí Señor has now achieved four consecutive stakes wins. Prior to the Piñeyrúa, he had triumphed in the Constante R. y Horacio Turturiello and the Argentina (L), and it seems clear he is set to dominate the category for a long time.
Later, in the Handicap Especial Andrés Ramponi Lorda (1200m, dirt) for fillies and mares 3 years and older, all eyes were on Regal Fortune (E do Sul, 57), who gave José da Silva his second prestigious win of the day. She defeated Dhara(Posse, 55) by a neck in 1:11.11. Josiane Gulart trains the winner, who was bred by Coudelaria Monte Parnaso in Brazil..
