The adjustments were more significant in races for 3-year-olds, while some other divisions saw only minimal increases. In most cases, purses remain below—and well behind—what is offered at Palermo

San Isidro Racecourse announced this week a revision of its purse structure, set to take effect with the card scheduled for Thursday, August 29. The increases will vary by division, with the largest impact seen in races for 3-year-olds and more modest adjustments in other categories.

For 3-year-old maidens, the boost will be around 10 percent. For example, a 1,200-meter race currently paying ARS 4,200,000 to the winner will rise to ARS 4,600,000. Alternative contests will see smaller gains, under 5 percent; in the same example, the purse would go from ARS 2,520,000 to ARS 2,750,000.

For 4-year-olds, the adjustment will be more moderate. A 2,000-meter race for maidens that currently awards ARS 4,400,000 to the winner will increase to ARS 4,700,000. Among 5-year-old winners of one race, a 1,000-meter event will see a nearly symbolic rise from ARS 2,500,000 to ARS 2,640,000.

Classics will also see limited increases. The Clásico La Mission (G2-2,000 m), which carries ARS 11,500,000 for the winner this Saturday, is projected to offer ARS 12,800,000 in September.

Additionally, a bonus of ARS 100,000 will now be awarded to horses finishing sixth through eighth in condition races and handicaps, aimed at encouraging larger fields.

Despite these adjustments, San Isidro remains well below Palermo in terms of purses, with a difference of around 25 percent, though it retains a slight edge over La Plata, which has also implemented increases in recent weeks.
