The 2025 renewal of the Clásico Fondistas Provinciales (2000 meters, soft turf) brought out the best in favored Cornwall, who lived up to expectations with a determined stretch run to conquer some of the top stayers from Argentina’s interior circuit.

Fresh off a victory in the Especial 25 de Mayo de 1018 at Azul, the Stud L.H. representative carried his momentum to San Isidro, showcasing class and stamina to reel in a game Fest King (Daniel Boone), who nearly stole it on the front end for La Punta.

Under a confident ride from Elías MartínezCornwall—a 3-year-old son of Remote out of Centuriana (Pure Prize), bred by Haras Avourneen—overcame a tricky spot along the rail turning for home. Once clear, he launched a sustained rally that gradually wore down the pacesetter over the final 400 meters, finally edging past to score by 1 1/2 lengths. Despite the narrow loss, Fest King earned full marks for his effort, holding second well clear of the rest. Laudrud (Hurricane Cat) checked in a distant third, 8 lengths back, while Rosario shipper Purity Spring (Greenspring) faded to finish eighth in the field of nine.

The final time was a testing 2:08.17 over the rain-affected ground—evidence of the challenging conditions faced by all runners.

Now a three-time winner, including one prior score on the San Isidro turf, Cornwall appears to have found his niche over longer trips and looks poised for further improvement as he approaches his 4-year-old season.

The win capped a memorable afternoon for trainer Juan A. Cabrera, who teamed up with Martínez and Stud L.H.earlier on the card to take the opener with Happy Moon (Hi Happy), completing a smart double.
