San Isidro readies its Jockey Club Saturday card with one eye on the sky

The card will feature 17 races, free admission, a food festival, and over $500 million pesos in guaranteed pools; however, rain forecasts threaten to impact the outdoor festivities

The races will be the primary draw at the Hipódromo de San Isidro this Saturday, where the Gran Premio Jockey Club (G1) headlines one of the most important meetings of the season. Surrounding the track, a series of complementary activities are planned, though rain forecasts introduce a level of concern for both the athletic competition and the plans of those intending to spend the day at the northern venue.
The card will feature 17 races scheduled between 12:00 PM and 8:40 PM, including four stakes events, three of which carry Group 1 status. Statistically, these feature races have drawn 46 runners, among them 21 stakes winners and eight top-level G1 victors. Leading the marquee names are champions Le Cornette (Emmanuel) and Colifato Novo(Lenovo), crowd-pleasers like few others and centerpiece stars of an offering where the equine talent is the true main attraction.
Official communications encourage racegoers to wear their finest attire and anticipate an unforgettable afternoon. Beyond the promotional enthusiasm, the off-track entertainment schedule remains fairly concise, featuring an international food festival, starting-gate tours, and a central ceremony. Ultimately, the drawing power of the day rests on the rich tradition of the Jockey Club and the quality of racing on the turf.
In the gardens of the General Grandstand, the Feria de la Gastronomía Internacional will offer a culinary alternative for families attending the meeting. The food festival will continue into Sunday, October 4, starting at 11:00 AM, with free admission. Given its open-air setup, it will be one of the features most dependent on the weekend weather.
In addition, guided tours to the starting gates will depart from the Paddock Grandstand gardens, offering fans an up-close look at one of the most vital operations of every race. Prior to the feature race, a central ceremony is scheduled, with organizers promising surprises without revealing specific details.
On the wagering front, San Isidro announced over $500 million pesos in guaranteed pools along with the physical Disco de la Fortuna across all races, carrying bonus payouts ranging from three to ten million pesos, alongside additional pool guarantees.
Admission to the racetrack will be free of charge, with pedestrian entry at Avenida Márquez 800 and vehicular access at Márquez 700. On-site parking as well as street parking managed by municipal traffic officers will be available, alongside standard train and bus transit routes.
The stage is set for an afternoon of top-class racing. The Jockey Club brings history, and the contenders promise high competition. Now, all that remains is for the weather to cooperate—much of the enjoyment in the gardens and planned festivities will depend on it.
