Champion Sprinter of 2016, the son of Easing Along has sired 5 stakes winners and a total of 58 winners

The movements continue in Argentina ahead of the 2025 breeding season, still some time away. Santillano, the 2016 Sprint Champion, will relocate to the province of La Pampa to continue his breeding duties at Haras Luna Nueva, as reported by journalist Carlos Richard on his Contacto Hípico blog.
The son of Easing Along will share the stallion ranks with the talented Smart Holiday (Harlan’s Holiday) and Amero(Chullo), who, despite having only a small number of foals on the track, already has classic victories to his name.
Bred by Haras La Pasión, Santillano raced for Stud Juan Antonio and was trained by María F. Álvarez and Walter Suárez. Over his career, he won 9 of 26 races, including the prestigious Gran Premio Estrellas Sprint (G1) and Suipacha (G1). He also triumphed in the Paraguay (G3) and Santiago Lawrie (G3) Stakes, as well as the Ringaro and Sind Handicaps.
Additionally, he achieved several notable placings, including second-place finishes in the Gran Premio Félix de Alzaga Unzué (G1) and Gran Premio Maipú (G1), consistently maintaining his position among the elite sprinters for two seasons.
Out of Santita, by Maria’s Mon (Wavering Monarch), Santillano is a half-brother to five winners, including Santísimo, who placed second in the Handicap Simonside and fourth in the Handicap Cheerful.
With 7 foal crops to his name, 5 of which are active on the track, Santillano has produced 58 winners to date (51.8% strike rate from those that have raced, totaling 112), including 5 stakes winners and 2 who have won graded races.
Among his standout progeny are Anguila de Coral, Yacaerán, Fuego Valyrio, Santa Pasión, and Hirán, the latter a recent winner of the Clásico General Viamonte (G3). Other notable offspring include Aiyanna (a promising runner in 2025), Shy Chimonin, Victoria Bayern, and Un Día Después.
Without a doubt, Santillano will be a significant asset to the growing breeding industry in La Pampa, a region known for its excellent SPC development.
