CHUKYO, Japan (Special for Turf Diario).— In a discipline where every hundredth of a second counts and where pure speed defines hierarchies, Satono Reve has once again left his mark. The son of Lord Kanaloa claimed victory for the second consecutive year in the Takamatsunomiya Kinen (G1), clocking an impressive time of 1m6s30/100 for the 1,200 meters on firm turf, finishing just one-tenth of a second off the track record.

Sent off as the betting favorite, the defending champion had a clean break and settled in mid-pack while Invincible Papa (Shalaa) set a demanding pace from the start. With strong fractions—1,000 meters in 55s20/100—the race set up perfectly for the closers.

That is where the champion's figure emerged. Ridden by Christophe Lemaire, Satono Reve began to move wide on the final turn and, once in the stretch, unleashed all his power. With 150 meters to go, he pulled level with the leader and, with a decisive change of gears, drew away to cross the wire with a 2-length advantage.

Second place went to Red Mon Reve, also a son of Lord Kanaloa, who rallied from further back, while the 9-year-old Win Carnelian (Screen Hero), winner of the 2025 Sprinters Stakes (G1), completed the trifecta after a favorable trip in stalking positions.

“I am very happy to have won this race for the second year in a row,” commented Lemaire. “He is a very strong horse. The pace was very fast from the beginning, but he knows what he has to do. I let him run at his own rhythm and, when we entered the straight, he accelerated impressively.” The French jockey, who was aboard the horse for the first time, added: “I already knew him from facing him many times. He is very straightforward to ride; he makes everything easy.”

Following his triumph in the 2025 edition, Satono Reve had confirmed his international standing with runner-up finishes in the Chairman’s Sprint Prize in Hong Kong and the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot. Later, he finished fourth in the Sprinters Stakes and ninth in the Hong Kong Sprint, closing out a demanding calendar against the global elite.

With this new victory, the sprinter joins the select group of multiple G1 winners sired by Lord Kanaloa, including figures such as Danon Smash, Saturnalia, and Panthalassa, though the stallion’s ultimate standard-bearer remains the extraordinary Almond Eye.

Backed by a pedigree of speed and consistency—he is a brother to the G2 winner Hakusan Moon (Admire Moon)—Satono Reve confirms that his dominance is no fluke. He is, quite simply, one of the best sprinters on the planet.
