LA PLATA.- Two key factors contributed to Save Your Tears’ successful return to La Plata Sunday, capturing the Clásico Florentino Ameghino (1,200 m) over a very heavy track and opening the stakes double for the day.

First, the Full Mast filly’s own talent shone through in familiar conditions, overcoming a couple of recent efforts where she had not performed to her usual standard. Second, the race favorite High Rimout (Remote) broke slowly, effectively removing herself from contention.

With her main rival out of the picture, the Stud Chichín runner engaged in a head-to-head duel with Woman Edition (Equal Edition), beginning to draw clear midway down the stretch and gradually extending her advantage.

Save Your Tears crossed the wire a length ahead, with Grand Sara Jet (Grand Reward) three lengths further back in third. High Rimout finished well adrift in last, leaving her connections with work to do to avoid a repeat scenario.
