The son of Seek Again, last season’s top juvenile in the south, looks to regain his best form

LA PLATA.- Only 103 horses have been entered for Tuesday’s 12-race card at Hipódromo de La Plata, where the Especial Furious Key (1600 meters, dirt) stands out as the main event. Restricted to 4-year-olds and up with three or more wins, the race drew just five starters, headed by Seek Wave (Seek Again), last season’s top juvenile at this venue, who will carry top weight of 56 kilos.
The son of Seek Again will look to rediscover his best stride after two subpar efforts at San Isidro, where he finished fifth in the Clásico Forli (G2) and seventh in the Clásico Cocles (L). A multiple graded stakes winner, his résumé includes the Clásico Asociación de Propietarios (G3), Clásico Aramburu (G3), Clásico Polla de Potrillos (G3) and Clásico Provincia de Buenos Aires (G2).
Among his challengers is Black Stripes (Equal Stripes, 52), a lightweight contender from the north who will try to score his first stakes victory. Always highly regarded by trainer Nicolás Martín Ferro, he was runner-up—beaten three-quarters of a length—by Garufa Mask (Mask) in the Clásico Gendarmería Nacional Argentina at San Isidro, before finishing fourth behind Emergent (Il Campione) in the Handicap Silfo at Palermo.
Another to consider is Notable Island (Lizard Island, 54), who comes off a much-improved third in the Clásico Hipódromo de La Plata (G3). Earlier this year, he captured the Clásico Jockey Club de la Provincia de Buenos Aires(G3), taking advantage of Seek Wave’s absence as that rival opted instead for the Gran Premio Polla de Potrillos (G1).
