LA PLATA.- A light and uninspiring program is on tap for Tuesday at La Plata, with the Clásico Jockey Club de Mendoza (1400m, dirt) serving as the day's main event. Restricted to 4-year-olds and up under set weights, the feature offers a modest winner’s purse of just ARS 4.9 million.

Eight runners have been confirmed, and the standout is undoubtedly Señor Dan (Arg) (Señor Candy), who returns to the City of Diagonals riding a wave of strong recent form. Representing Stud Comalal, the 5-year-old has won 3 of his last 4 outings, most recently capturing the Especial Río de Oro over this same track, where he defeated G1 winner Vespaciano(Daniel Boone) by 1 1/2 lengths while carrying just 54 kilos.

That day, the veteran Surfing Boy (Hurricane Cat), who is nearing 10 years of age, finished a disappointing fifth despite entering off a win in the Clásico Onesto Puente (L). While consistent throughout his career, he failed to fire in that latest attempt.

Another contender, albeit less reliable, is 8-year-old D’Or Van (Van Nistelrooy), who was fourth in the Río de Oro but has lacked consistency throughout his campaign.

Fancy Model (Lizard Island) has struggled to recapture his past form but remains a horse to watch in hopes of a bounce-back performance. Meanwhile, Buen Curuzucuateño (Buen Verso) followed a victory with a disappointing run at Palermo, but given the overall lack of depth in the field, he could find himself in contention.

Rounding out the lineup are Rodo (Flowing Rye), who enters off a solid win in conditioned company, and Al Fin Llegué(Southern Cat), both looking to step up in stakes class.
