Señor Sandro Stands Out in the Engrillado

The son of Cityscape enters off a victory in conditional ranks as he returns to stakes company

Completing the weekend action, Hipódromo de San Isidro will host a solid card this Sunday, featuring the Clásico Engrillado as its main event, a 2,000-meter turf contest that serves as part of the path toward the Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini (G1) awaiting in December, as always.

Open to horses 4 years old and up under weight-for-age conditions, the race has drawn a compact field of just 6 confirmed runners, though several have already proven they possess the necessary credentials to compete at the highest level.

For instance, Señor Sandro (Cityscape), carrying the silks of Las Monjitas, comes off a return to winning ways and will seek to regain the form that led him to finish second in both the Gran Premio Jockey Club (G1) and the Clásico de la Provincia de Buenos Aires (G3) in 2025.

One of his main rivals will be Don Machete (Daddy Long Legs), winner of the Clásico Macon (L) who subsequently turned in a more than respectable fifth-place finish in the Gran Premio Estrellas Classic (G1).

Curious Song (Sixties Song) is no less dangerous than the former. Following an unexpected misstep in the Clásico Chacabuco (G2) over the Palermo turf, he returns to the course where he finished second to Magnum Fifth (Daniel Boone) in the Gran Premio 25 de Mayo (G1).

Adorado Rim (Remote) will also contribute his fair share, coming off a victory and possessing proven stakes-winning credentials, while Santo Rey (Santillano) and Taikky (Japan) appear to sit a notch below the principals on form, though both will attempt to spring a surprise.
