The former will contest the Haras Santa Elena, while the latter is slated for the Asociación Argentina de Fomento Equino

LA PLATA.- A modest Sunday program at La Plata will have a pair of feature events as its highlights. The Haras Santa Elena (1000 meters, dirt) will bring together mares five and up, while the Asociación Argentina de Fomento Equino (1400 meters, dirt) is reserved for fillies and mares from four years old and upward, with both races requiring a minimum of three career wins.
In the first of those, Señora Bagaces (Lizard Island), representing Stud F. Enrique—the same colors as El Exito (Il Campione)—looks the one to beat despite carrying near top weight of 58 kilos. The 6-year-old has been a model of consistency, finishing in the money in every start since April 2024, during which time she has collected five wins, including the Haras El Tala and Curtida Nistel. She was most recently fourth, beaten five lengths, in the Haras Pozo de Luna, behind Seré Científica (Exodus, 56) and Real Moon Kiss (Exchange Kiss, 52)—first and third that day—both of whom she faces again while seeking revenge.
The Asociación Argentina de Fomento Equino shapes up stronger, led by Garbiñe (Lucullan), trained by Juan Saldivia and to be ridden by Lucas González with just 52 kilos. Representing Las Canarias, she ships in from Palermo after hitting the board in consecutive graded tries, finishing third in the Inés Victorica Roca (G3) and fourth in the Ricardo P. Sauze (G3). With the Marcos Levalle (G2) on the horizon, this could serve as an ideal stepping stone.
Her main danger looms in the ever-game Jalimba (Señor Candy, 56), trained by Omar Labanca and to be partnered by Lautaro Balmaceda, who arrive in sharp form after running away with the Especial Aerostática by 11 lengths over Furiosa Vis (Furious Key) on a muddy track—a condition that could well be in play again Sunday.
Though not in her best form, Illa Alegre (Sabat Husson, 58) would have been among the leading choices not long ago in a race of this nature.
