The mare will target the Especial Haras Pozo de Luna, while the colt looms a strong favorite for the Handicap Día del Veterinario

LA PLATA.- Racing will grind to a halt Tuesday at La Plata, where the 12-race program features a pair of events above the standard fare. Fifth on the card, the 1000-meter Especial Haras Pozo de Luna is open to mares aged five and older, while the eighth race will be the 1200-meter Handicap Día del Veterinario, for all horses four and up. In both cases, the condition is a minimum of three career wins.
In the first of these, favoritism falls to Señora Bagaces (Lizard Island), who comes in at a high point of her campaign and will carry 58 kilos, among the heaviest imposts in the field. She could once again find the kind of hot pace that lets her powerful late run do maximum damage, just as she did when taking the Especiales El Tala and Curtida Nistel.
That pace is likely to come from Una Causa (True Cause), as usual, who shoulders topweight of 62 kilos and will look to rebound from a last-place finish in the Handicap Nigromante at Palermo. Prior to that, over this track, she defeated Jugadoraza (Winning Prize) by four lengths, with Señora Bagaces checking in fourth.
Depende de Tí (Lucky Island), who carries just 54 kilos and is in sharp form, looms as the third main player.
In the Handicap Día del Veterinario, the presence of Vivante (Lizard Island, 57) catches the eye. One of the better sophomores of his generation, he just returned from a five-month layoff to defeat Pripioca Mío (Lucky Island) in an allowance event.
The competition will be stiff, including veteran Vespaciano (Daniel Boone, 55), fresh off a win in the Especial Dart; the ageless Surfing Boy (Hurricane Cat, 60), ever game and now the topweight; and the duo of Lo Dejo Todo (Le Blues, 58) and Sonreime (Orpen, 58.5), who filled the placings behind Le Massif (Le Ken) in the Clásico Mariano Moreno.
