Sir Brave secured a victory that looked impossible 200 meters from the wire

The daughter of Lencelot cut down the margin late and managed to catch pacesetter Paxing right on the wire, after the latter appeared to have the race all sewn up

This time, Sir Brave (57 kg) was no surprise. The homebred for Stud-Haras Los Bayitos continued her outstanding form on Friday at Hipódromo Palermo, taking the demanding Handicap Mouchette (1,800 m, wet dirt), the featured event of a card that blended high-level condition races with filler fields.

The daughter of the talented Lencelot (Sidney's Candy)—a standout performer for Stud La Frontera—confirmed that nine furlongs suits her to perfection, repeating her performance from just over a month ago when, under identical conditions, she captured the Handicap Jorge H. Iglesias.

On that occasion, with Juan Pablo Paoloni in the irons, she prevailed by half a length; this time, partnered by Juan Cruz Villagra, she edged the favorite Paxing (Señor Candy, 57 1/2) by just a neck.

It was a breathtaking victory for the Jorge Mayansky Neer trainee. With 200 meters to run, catching the pacesetter Paxing looked impossible after she had broken clear following an early duel with Foggy of Song (Sixties Song, 55 1/2).

However, Sir Brave launched her drive at the 150-meter mark, capitalized on the late tiring of the favorite, and overhauled her virtually on the wire to secure the victory, stopping the clock in 1m51s42/100 over a demanding track.
