Sir Brave Was Unstoppable From the Front at Palermo

The Los Bayitos mare wired the field in the Handicap Jorge H. Iglesias
Continuing her strong run of form, Sir Brave made headlines on Monday at Hipódromo Palermo, taking the Handicap Jorge H. Iglesias, the feature race of the card contested over 1800 meters on a wet dirt track.
It was a very impressive performance by the Los Bayitos homebred, who battled for the lead from the break with Always Funny (Fortify, 52 1/2), shook free slightly entering the stretch, and then showed the determination needed to hold off the late surge of Citadelle (Fortify, 55) by half a length to secure the biggest victory of her career.
Six lengths back in virtually a separate race, Black Babe (Treasure Beach) completed a rather unexpected trifecta, with It's My Look (Equal Stripes, 58) finishing a close fourth, another half-length behind. Post-time favorite Always Funnyfaded to fifth, while Reina Casada (Long Island Sound, 57 1/2) could manage no better than seventh. The running time was 1m51s39/100 on a demanding track.
Trained by Jorge Mayansky Neer, Sir Brave was given a brilliant ride by Juan Pablo Paoloni. The bay filly is a daughter of the memorable record-setting horse Lencelot (Sidney's Candy), stallion at Los Bayitos, and is out of Brave N Bold (Hurricane Cat), a two-time winner during her racing campaign who traces back to the maternal line of Nice(Nigromante), the great mare for Happy End.
