In a spectacular edition of the G2 Clásico Provincia de Buenos Aires, he edged out Winston by just a half-length

LA PLATA.- Returning to his preferred tactics and racing on the front end, Sono Perfetto put on the performance of his career to capture a memorable edition of the G2 Clásico Provincia de Buenos Aires (2200m, standard dirt) this Thursday, closing out another local Triple Crown—an achievement no three-year-old has managed since 1992.
After a G2 Clásico Jockey Club de la Provincia de Buenos Aires in which he couldn’t employ his favored style, the chestnut, part of the first crop of the outstanding Tetaze (Equal Stripes), returned to the tactics that had previously brought him success in the G3 Clásico José Pedro Ramírez. In a thrilling head-to-head down the stretch, he outlasted Winston(Forge) in a duel that stretched the entire final furlong.
Earlier in the race, under a masterful ride from Lautaro Balmaceda, Sono Perfetto settled off a moderate pace, conserving energy for when it mattered most. It didn’t faze him that Piñazo (John F. Kennedy), fresh off his Jockey Club win, pressed close but with far less intent than in his previous effort.
Sono Perfetto appeared fully in control, though as Winston loomed wide around the turn, shadows of doubt crept across the leader’s horizon. The gray advanced strongly, taking a run down the outside, but the chestnut fought back, edging slightly inward.
In the decisive moments, the winner found another gear despite the tight margin, regaining the lead to prevail by a half-length. Piñazo finished a distant six lengths back, completing the trifecta in a race where three participants faded far off the pace.
Covering the 2200 meters in 2:19.44, Sono Perfetto, bred by Sergio O. Savi and racing for Stud El Cárcara, combined conviction, class, and courage to establish himself as the top juvenile in La Plata. Next up is the G1 Gran Premio Dardo Rocha in a month, where he will face older rivals—but he will approach the challenge with the same fearless determination.
