Just as they did in 2024 with Viva Al Sur, trainer Gustavo Scarpello, Stud Pampa’s, Haras El Caldén, and sire South Kissing returned to win the Handicap Saint Simon

Trainer Gustavo Scarpello, Stud Pampa’s, Haras El Caldén, and sire South Kissing repeated the feat in the Handicap Saint Simon. One year ago, they were celebrating with Viva Al Sur, and this Sunday—again at the Hipódromo de San Isidro—the scene was identical, only this time with South Briole.
The chestnut filly rose from the allowance ranks, where she had scored decisively last out, to record the best victory of her career with notable ease, making the most of her manageable 55.5 kilos.
Jorge Peralta read the race to perfection, placing South Briole right on the heels of Elvi Grace (Southern Cat, 52.5kg), who set a dawdling pace with an opening quarter in :26.78. Being close was essential, as such a soft tempo would later leave no room for late closers.
Once in the stretch, the winner progressed down the center of the track and quickly took command, drawing away steadily to reach the wire 2 1/2 lengths clear of Elvi Grace, who held second by a head over the favorite Expert Advice (Il Campione, 56.5kg). Final time: 1:36.80.
By Dal Briole (Dalí Fitz), South Briole earned the fifth victory of her 18-start career. After a pair of extended breaks, she was finally able to showcase her full ability and generosity in 2025.
