The Godolphin champion heads the march toward Del Mar, with Fierceness and Sierra Leone trailing

LEXINGTON, Kentucky (Especial para Turf Diario).- After a quiet week on the international calendar, Sovereignty, the Godolphin colt and winner of the Kentucky Derby (G1), Belmont Stakes (G1) and Travers Stakes (G1), remains the undisputed leader of the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic Rankings 2025. The weekly leaderboard tracks the top contenders heading toward the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1, $7 million) at Del Mar on Nov. 1.
The Into Mischief colt accumulated 422 points, including 37 first-place votes, holding a solid margin over Fierceness (City of Light), winner of the Pacific Classic (G1) for Repole Stable, Derrick Smith, Michael B. Tabor and Mrs. John Magnier, who sits on 365 points. Completing the podium is Sierra Leone (Gun Runner), defending Classic champion in 2024 for Peter Brant, Mrs. John Magnier, Michael B. Tabor, Derrick Smith, Westerberg and Brook T. Smith, with 332 votes for Chad Brown.
Also notable on the leaderboard are Mindframe (Constitution), winner of the Stephen Foster (G1), and Journalism (Curlin), victor in the Preakness (G1) and Haskell Stakes (G1), ranking fourth and fifth, respectively. The remainder of the top ten includes Forever Young (Real Steel), Antiquarian (Preservationist), Nysos (Nyquist), Baeza (McKinzie) and Highland Falls (Curlin), all with significant international and North American stakes credentials.
So far, Fierceness, Sierra Leone, Mindframe, Journalism, Forever Young and Antiquarian have secured automatic berths in the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic via the Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series: Win and You’re In, which includes entry fees and starting costs. The final automatic spot will be decided in the Goodwood Stakes (G1, Santa Anita, Sept. 27).
The rankings are compiled by an international panel of racing media, handicappers, and Breeders’ Cup racing committee members. Each voter scores horses on a 10-to-1 scale, with results published weekly through Oct. 7.
