LA PLATA.– The replay of the finish for the Clásico About Today (1000 m, normal dirt), the most important event of Tuesday's card at this city's racetrack, can be watched over and over again, and almost every time, it leaves the impression that Oro Azteca and his closing kick got there.

However, the numbers on the board indicated otherwise, as the victory ended up going by the narrowest of margins to Soy Isleño, who surprised the majority by securing just the second victory of his career.

With Martín Montoya in his irons, the son of Long Island Sound was a protagonist from early on, battling upfront with Ridge Prince (Strategic Prince) and Le Bird (Lucky Island). The former packed his bags before reaching the final straight, and the latter continued to dispute the lead for a few more meters.

By the 200-meter mark, Soy Isleño was still hanging on, but Oro Azteca materialized with a burst of speed to draw level and give the impression that he would take the top spot whenever his jockey demanded it. It was not to be.

The representative of Stud Mi Bella Giulia dug deep and dropped his head just in time, all in a more than commendable final time of 59s9/100. The opposite side of the coin was shown by the heavy favorite Vespaciano (Daniel Boone), who was never in the hunt and finished seventh, a little over 4 lengths back, in one of his poorest performances in recent times.
