The Daughter of Manipulator Set the Pace Throughout to Score a Comprehensive Victory in the Clásico Espirita (L)

Soy La Líder remembered just how talented a mare she is, easily turning away her only three rivals in a rather lackluster renewal of the Clásico Espirita (L-2000m, good turf). The race served as the second half of the stakes doubleheader during an entertaining Saturday card at the Hipódromo de San Isidro.

Once ranked among the top fillies of her generation at the Hipódromo de La Plata—where she captured the Clásico Andrés S. Torres (G3) and hit the board in several other top-tier juvenile features—she appeared to have lost her way after wrapping up her 2025 campaign with a runner-up finish in the Clásico Los Criadores (G2). However, seizing the opportunity presented by the small field, she comprehensively rediscovered her winning form.

Carrying the high weight of 57 kilos, jockey Lucas González hustled her out of the starting gate to quickly assume command. Once on the lead, he controlled the fractions entirely at his own leisure, aided by the passive tactics of her rivals, who seemed content to simply hope that the Stud Santa Rita runner would eventually grow weary.

That moment never came, and the stretch run proved elementary for Soy La Líder. She hit the wire full of run with a 5-length advantage over Argomasa (Lucullan), while Niebla Peligrosa (Daddy Long Legs) finished a further 3 lengths back in third, and Icilia (Lizard Island) completed the small field a distance behind. The final clock stopped at 2m06.33s.

Bred by Haras Cortines and conditioned by Carlos Cardón, the daughter of Manipulator and Lonely Leader(Footstepsinthesand) boosted her lifetime record to 5 victories from 23 starts, with career earnings now approaching $58 million pesos. It was a confidence-boosting performance that suggests more stakes success could be on the horizon.
