LA PLATA.-Making the most of her light 52-kilo impost and a confident ride from Lucas GonzálezSoy La Líder returned to stakes-winning form Tuesday at La Plata, capturing the Clásico Mad Corsaria, the feature event of the day run over a mile for fillies and mares four and up.

It took nearly a year and a half for the Stud Santa Rita mare to savor victory again at this level—a feeling she last experienced in May 2024, when she captured the Clásico Andrés S. Torres (G3) during her standout 3-year-old campaign. After a demanding season that included multiple graded placings and a subsequent layoff, the daughter of Manipulator showed that she is firmly on the way back to her best.

Displaying both generosity and courage, Soy La Líder broke sharply, took command right out of the gate, and refused to yield despite constant pressure from Nipotina (Treasure Beach, 52), who fought gamely but ultimately had to settle for second.

Turning for home, González asked his mount to lengthen, and Soy La Líder responded instantly, opening a length and a half advantage. Though Nipotina rallied again in the final strides, she could only get within a neck at the wire. Two lengths back, Señora Maga (Señor Candy, 52) completed the trifecta, while the favorite Illa Alegre (Sabat Husson, 60)—stepping down in distance after her victory in the Clásico Hipódromo Independencia de Rosario (G3) over 2000 meters—failed to fire and finished fourth.

Trained by Carlos A. Cardón at Campo 2 of San Isidro and bred by Haras CortinesSoy La Líder is out of Lonely Leader (Footstepsinthesand), who has also produced two other winners. This marked the mare’s fourth victory from 17 starts, pushing her career earnings past 36 million pesos.

A commanding return to the spotlight, Soy La Líder reaffirmed that, when she breaks well and finds her rhythm, few can catch her—living up, once again, to her name.
