The Hi Happy colt won six major events there throughout 2026, and on Rocha day he stood out as one of the meeting’s marquee performers

LA PLATA.- The photo of Storm Sound was already sitting on the nightstand of everyone connected to his team. But after Wednesday’s performance, it may have climbed even higher on the affection scale—perhaps now deserving a mural of its own.
Delivering a polished, top-class effort, the Stud El Cárcara runner firmly established himself as La Plata’s top miler of 2025 with his victory in the Clásico Joaquín V. González (G2). It marked his sixth stakes-level win of the season at the eucalyptus-lined track, a statistic that makes his championship claim indisputable.
The Hi Happy colt has no shortage of virtues, and he blends them seamlessly every time he steps onto this course. His affinity for the layout is enhanced by ironclad soundness and, now, a level of maturity that allows him to be far more than the one-dimensional frontrunner he once was. In the González, he showed he can adapt to whatever scenario is presented.
Lautaro Balmaceda had no trouble rationing his energy, settling him fifth while Concord (Remote) blasted off to set a clear early lead. The pace steadily increased as the field advanced—and so did Storm Sound.
Once in the stretch, Chaplin (Nicholas) quickly took over from Concord and tried to kick away in the same move, but Storm Sound had already uncoiled and was on his way to becoming uncatchable for the brave colt.
The dark bay drew clear to score by two lengths over Chaplin, with Adorado Rim (Remote) finishing a valuable third another 1 1/2 lengths back. His final time of 1:36.89 was nearly a full second slower than what Escolastic Girl(Suggestive Boy) and Pecadora Joy (Fortify) posted in the Marcos Levalle (G2), though the track had been significantly worn down by the strong winds that persisted throughout the afternoon.
Bred by Haras Carampangue, Storm Sound benefits from the conditioning of Omar Labanca, who is closing out the finest season of his career while keeping this outstanding horse performing at a consistently high level.
