LA PLATA, Argentina—On a track that will likely be anything but easy, El Bosque will host one of its most important races of the season this afternoon. The latest edition of the Clásico 25 de Mayo de 1810 (G2), a one-mile event for 3-year-olds and up, promises high-level action.

After a pair of solid efforts at Palermo, Storm Sound returns to the site of his biggest victories to defend the title he captured 12 months ago. The Hi Happy colt trained by Omar Labanca enters off runner-up finishes behind El Exito (Il Campione) in both the Clásico Benito Villanueva (G2) and the Gran Premio de las Américas - OSAF (G1)—a top-class résumé.

A courageous frontrunner, the Stud El Cárcara runner figures to have his hands full with Monsieur Delon (Il Campione) and Es Aristocrático (Angiolo), both seasoned contenders. That pair ran one-two in the Clásico Colombia, separated by just half a length, with Paraná Miní (Winning Prize), another forward type, finishing third six lengths back—and also entered here.

Black Stripes (Equal Stripes) ships in from San Isidro’s Campo 2 after finishing third behind El Exito in the Clásico El Virtuoso (G3) before a puzzling last-place finish in the Benito Villanueva. He’s one to give another shot.

The field doesn’t stop there. Notable Island (Lizard Island), winner of the local Clásico Jockey Club (G3) in 2024, returns from a 128-day break aiming to make his presence felt. Garufa Mask (Mask) will try to recapture the form he showed in March when he beat Hit Rouge (Hit It a Bomb) by five lengths in the Clásico Asociación Argentina de Fomento Equino (L) at San Isidro.

Veterans Fancy Model (Lizard Island) and Rodo (Flowing Rye) complete the competitive lineup.
