Mauro Castellazzi can hardly believe the sensational moment his Stud Pauli is living through—numbers so exceptional they almost defy logic in the world of racing.

First, the facts. Over the stable’s last 44 starts, its silks have been carried to victory 22 timessix of those in stakes company—along with seven seconds and seven thirds. That translates to a staggering 50% strike rate and an 81.8% Top 3 efficiency, a remarkable feat by any standard.

“We owe these results to the incredible team led by our trainer, Marcelo Sueldo,” Castellazzi said. “We also have some very good horses, thanks to our partnership with Haras Gran Muñeca, where we own several together at 50%. We’ve even been lucky to sell a few already. I visit the farm and choose from the best available stock—after that, whether they run or not is another story. For next year, we have a group to be excited about.”

Among the stars driving those stats are Es Aristocrático (Angiolo)Citana (Endorsement)Encantador Pass (Distinctiv Passion)Garboso Frank (Gidu)Takeshi Frank (Gidu), and Agradecida Pass (Distinctiv Passion).

“Stud Pauli was born almost by accident,” Castellazzi recalled. “We had an issue with my original stable, La Peladilla—named after my wife’s little dog—and we needed a new name. That’s how Pauli came about. Today we have around 30 horses, 26 of which have already raced, which helps us keep the operation running.”

While dreaming about what’s next—particularly with Es Aristocrático aiming for the Clásico Ciudad de La Plata, one of the highlights of the coming weeks—Castellazzi is also enjoying success abroad.

“We have Quereme Pass (Distinctiv Passion), whom we bought from Alfredo Camogli and sent to the U.S. with a local partner. He just won at Kentucky Downs a few weeks ago, and now we’re pointing him to a nice race at Gulfstream Park. We had considered a G2 at Woodbine, but decided to stay in Miami, where José F. D’Angelo trains him.”

Before wrapping up, Castellazzi was eager to share credit where it’s due.

“This is all about teamwork—Marcelo, the grooms, foremen, farrier, and Gonzalo Borda, everyone plays their part. Hopefully we can keep it going, even if these numbers are almost unbelievable.”

With a strike rate of one win every two starters over the past four months, Stud Pauli is enjoying a dream run—and Mauro Castellazzi knows these are the moments to savor, to build on, and to dream even bigger.
