Also on tap: the Juan Amoroso and Irineo Leguisamo for 2-Year-Old fillies and colts

MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay (Special para Turf Diario).- The Hipódromo Nacional de Maroñas will host a thrilling day of racing this Sunday, featuring four unmissable classics. The older horses will square off on the turf in the 2100-meter Manuel Quintela (G3), while the mares will battle it out in the Clásico Los Haras (G3-2000m, dirt).
In addition, the 2-year-olds will have their own crucial tests, with the colts competing in the Irineo Leguisamo and the fillies facing off in the Juan Amoroso, both contested over 1000 meters of dirt.
With Master of Puppets (Put It Back) absent from the scene—having recently raced in the Pellegrini (G1) in Argentina and the Ramírez (G1)—the main contender in the Quintela appears to be Steinkevjczuk (Going Somewhere), representing Stud El Cuarteto. He also took part in the international race in San Isidro, finishing twelfth.
Returning to local action, Steinkevjczuk won the Handicap Especial Roberto A. Ferber, and prior to his overseas campaign, he finished second by three-quarters of a length to Master of Puppets in the Carlos Pellegrini (L).
Also lining up in the Quintela will be Olympic Olympic (Alpha), third in the aforementioned local version of the Pellegrini after earlier winning the Reyles (L) and a subsequent allowance race. Posible Sueño (Ay Caramba), another horse with solid credentials, will also contest the event.
In the Los Haras, Brazilian mare Bloody Mary (Agnes Gold) stands out as a clear favorite. A multiple stakes winner in her home country, she made a strong local debut by finishing second to Dale Flojita (Sloane Avenue) in the Gran Premio Ciudad de Montevideo (G1). Rubia Posse (Posse), who finished fourth in that race, is also entered here.
Queen of Club (Victory Is Ours), the 2023 Montevideo winner, will be aiming to reclaim her top form, seeking to replicate her victory in the Estímulo (G2) last December.
The Leguisamo and Amoroso races are wide open, offering plenty of potential for exciting performances as the young horses look to make their mark.
