Her son Satono Shining scored the biggest victory of his career last Sunday, capturing the Kisaragi Sho (G3) at Kyoto

KYOTO, Japón (Special para Turf Diario).- Japan has been the top destination for standout Argentine broodmares in recent years, and their offspring continue to deliver outstanding performances, maintaining strong interest among local breeders in acquiring future broodmare prospects from that country.
Providing yet another reason to keep an eye on Argentine bloodlines, last Sunday at Kyoto Racecourse, another mare carrying the "(ARG)" designation made headlines. This time, it was Sweetie Girl, whose son Satono Shining (Kizuna) secured the most important victory of his young career with a commanding performance in the Kisaragi Sho (G3) over 1800 meters on turf.
A 3-year-old colt with just two prior starts, Satono Shining, owned by Hajime Satomi and bred by Shimokobe Farm, lived up to expectations with an authoritative effort that firmly establishes him as a name to watch in Japan’s competitive sophomore division.
Satono Shining had already signaled his talent when, after a winning debut, finished second in the Tokyo Sports Hai Nisai Stakes (G2) at Tokyo, beaten only by Croix du Nord (Kitasan Black), who would go on to be crowned Japan’s champion two-year-old following his triumph in the prestigious Hopeful Stakes (G1).
Ridden by Atsuya Nishimura, Satono Shining raced in midpack for most of the journey, lost ground while taking the final turn wide, yet unleashed a devastating late charge in the stretch. Hitting the front 100 meters from the wire, he drew off with ease, suggesting he could be even more formidable over longer distances.
Lynx Tip (Kitasan Black), a filly who put in a strong effort, finished second, three lengths behind the winner, while Lance of Chaos (Silver State) took third by a neck. The final time for the 1800 meters was an excellent 1:47.0.
Trained by Haruki Sugiyama, Satono Shining is the best runner to date produced by Sweetie Girl, a daughter of Star Dabbler who carried the Stud-Haras Futuro silks of Jorge Cardemil to victories in the Gran Premio de Potrancas (G1) and the Clásico Eliseo Ramírez (G2) at San Isidro in 2015.
Sweetie Girl has also produced several other winners in Japan, including Satono Liebe (Deep Impact), Elephantine(American Pharoah), Satono Galleon (Lord Kanaloa), and Orangelo (Lord Kanaloa), all of whom scored their victories as 3-year-olds.
