The Señor Candy Colt Wins the Clásico Francisco y Aureliano Rodríguez Larreta (L) with Ease

MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay (Special for Turf Diario).- Sí Señor cemented his reputation as the most solid horse currently racing at Hipódromo Nacional de Maroñas with another high-profile triumph, taking the Clásico Francisco y Aureliano Rodríguez Larreta (L) over the mile this past Sunday.
A key detail: the Señor Candy colt competed on turf for the first time, yet displayed the same level he had consistently shown on dirt, expanding his profile with this impressive versatility.
The victory marked seven wins in his last eight starts, with his sole defeat coming as a 2-year-old when he was beaten by Touch of Destiny (Midshipman) in the Clásico Asociación Uruguaya de Propietarios de Caballos de Carrera (G3)—a race that offered qualification points for the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1)—and giving him substantial weight advantages.
The chestnut, bred by Haras La Concordia, left no doubts with his performance, settling off the pace early, pressuring pacesetter Save the King (Forestry) in the far turn, and taking command with total authority entering the stretch.
From there, Sí Señor cruised to a three-length victory over Tupungato (Forestry), with Nuestro Sueño (The Leopard)completing the trifecta 1½ lengths further back, clocking a notable 1:34.64 for the mile.
Trained by Antonio Cintra (presented by Jorge Rey) and ridden by Vagner Leal, the Argentine-bred Juilliard (Not for Sale) also highlighted the current depth of mile talent on this side of the river.
With eight wins in 14 starts and an exceptional run of form, Sí Señor currently has no rivals over the Maroñas mile. His dominance in the division makes targeting more ambitious objectives entirely plausible, with the Pedro Piñeyrúa (G3)on January 6 likely next on his agenda.
