The project unveiled Thursday night at Palermo features as its centerpiece 10 colts from the 2024 crop retained by the farm specifically for the initiative

Many of those joining the innovative format offered by Firmamento Racing will probably know little about pedigrees, conformation, racetracks, or distances. Still, it is fascinating to understand which colts will embody the dream shared by Juan Carlos Bagó, his team, and all those who choose to become part of this ambitious project.

And what better way to launch such a dream than with 10 sons of the promising Maxfield (Street Sense), one of the most exciting young stallions in the United States, selected not only for their physical attributes but also for their pedigrees, in an effort to reduce the margin for error as much as possible.

There is hardly any need to explain the breeding operation of Haras Firmamento at its magnificent Sierra de los Padres property. Few places in the world offer such an ideal combination for developing a Thoroughbred. Without question, that is an additional advantage for those who become members of Firmamento Racing.

Max Special, out of the generous producer First Dubai (E Dubai), is a half-brother to G2 winner Super Number (Super Saver), Chilean stakes winner Penny Lane (Mastercraftsman), and the talented Firenze Seattle (Seattle Fitz), all descending from the legendary Special (Forli) family.

Max Beach, meanwhile, is the second Argentine-bred foal out of Chalet Beach (Kodiac), carrying the blood of one of Argentina’s great breed-shaping influences in Mutakddim (Seeking the Gold). His half-brother Chalet D’Oro (Medaglia d’Oro) was recently runner-up at two at San Isidro.

Another major hope for Firmamento Racing is Never Max, out of Nevermind Inc (Include) and a half-brother to G1 winner Joy Neverland (Fortify) and Peruvian stakes winner Matías Ignacio (Fortify).

Expectations are equally high for Maxzet, out of Zetica (Tiznow) and a half-brother to graded stakes performers Remótico (Remote) and Etico Hit (Hit It a Bomb); Maxquito, out of G1 winner Quita Nistel (Van Nistelrooy) and a half-brother to champion and G1 heroine Quita Rim (Remote) as well as G2 winner Quito Key (Key Deputy); and Maxdein, out of Dane (Dansili) and a half-brother to 2026 multiple graded stakes-placed runner Uncle Moi (Uncle Mo).

Also part of the group is Max Real, out of G3 winner Real Nistel (Van Nistelrooy) and a half-brother to recent Gran Premio Jockey Club (G1) hero Real Rim (Remote), along with stakes performers Real Craf (Mastercraftsman) and Cocu (The Great Day).

Then comes Tap Max, out of G3-placed Tapit Ruler (Roman Ruler) and a half-brother to stakes winner Tapit Bomb (Hit It a Bomb).

Another colt is Max Pen, out of Cachorra Pen (Orpen), whose dam is a sister to graded stakes performers Harlan’s Chachet (Harlan’s Holiday) and Super Cachorra (Super Saver), while already producing Peruvian G3-placed runner General Bazuka (Mastercraftsman).

The group is completed by Max Rosado, out of Pinky Pinky (Harlan’s Holiday) and a grandson of G1 winner and Horse of the Year Miss Pinky (Numerous).

The table has now been set.

Firmamento Racing is officially underway, and all that remains is to wait for these colts to begin delivering on the racetrack. There are certainly plenty of reasons to believe the winning post may arrive quickly.
