The racetracks of San Isidro and Palermo are preparing for a transition week, without races that draw too much attention, leaving the spotlight to La Plata, where there will be a couple of graded turns. The strongest offering in the major tracks will come from the Jockey Club Argentino's stage, where the Clásico Antártida Argentina (L-1,200 m, turf) for two-year-olds will be run on Sunday.
Obviously, the list of confirmed runners is short, as has become customary: only 6. This time, there will be 3 fillies and 3 colts in the gates: The Great Terms (The Great Day), Cenicienta Hit (Hit It a Bomb), El Volka (Vekoma), Principesca Bella (Made You Look), Pasos al Costado (Nicholas), and Risitas Pass (Distinctiv Passion).
The week in the north will open on Friday, when the highlight will be the Especial Guatán (1,200 m, dirt) for mares 5 years old and up with 3 or more wins, featuring a pathetic prize for the winner: $3,850,000. That and racing for free, for pleasure, is practically the same. The 8 ratified were: Winning Wind (Endorsement, 58), Ataka (Señor Candy, 62), Emalvi (Orpen, 60), Global Shadow (Global Hunter, 54), Expert Advice (Il Campione, 56), La Campioneta (Il Campione, 56), Enchanted Tales (Il Campione, 56), and Rollanda (Bodemeister, 56).
Finally, for its Wednesday, March 4 date, San Isidro will offer the Handicap Phoenix (1,200 m, dirt) as the main attraction. For all horses 3 years old and up, it will feature: The Great Jazz (The Great Day, 55), Encantador Pass(Distinctiv Passion, 57 1/2), Mario's Rim (Remote, 55), Río Felipín (Grand Reward, 57 1/2), and Príncipe Soñado(Fragotero, 59 1/2).
On the Palermo side, there will be racing on Saturday the 28th and Monday the 2nd, with handicaps as the most relevant tests. On the first of those days, the Tatán (1,800 m, dirt) for mares 5 years old and up will be held. There, the confirmed runners were: Gigantografía (Bodemeister, 57), Elvi Grace (Southern Cat, 51 1/2), Contrast (Safety Check, 52), Besitos de Amor (Besitos, 51), Gneisenau (Winning Prize, 52), Model Prize (Winning Prize, 51 1/2), Olimpia de Epiro (Southern Cat, 48 1/2), Niña Venus (Manipulator, 49 1/2), Godess (Valid Stripes, 53), Risible (Orpen, 55 1/2), and Pasaron Cosas (Treasure Beach, 55 1/2).
For Monday, meanwhile, everything will revolve around the Handicap Vitelio (1,000 m, dirt), where winning horses 5 years old and up can compete. Príncipe Soñado will carry the top weight of 60 kilos against: Farchi (Malenchini, 50), Emmguayaquil (Emmanuel, 51), El Romancero (Il Campione, 51), Bank One (Lenovo, 56), Filoso Class (Filoso Emperor, 59 1/2), Paris Tech (Luhuk, 55 1/2), Social Security (Security Risk, 50), Magyar (Lenovo, 55 1/2), Tormenta China (Malenchini, 55 1/2), and Tex for Sale (Nashville Texan, 59 1/2).
