The week at Hipódromo de Palermo will be completed on the stakes front by two other contests of immense interest

The week will be thrilling in terms of major racing at Hipódromo de Palermo. Saturday will bring the main attraction courtesy of the Gran Premio Selección (G1), the race that will crown the champion 3-year-old filly of the season.

Yet the capital city’s "Oaks" will not stand alone on the card, as it will be accompanied by the traditional Clásico Eduardo Casey (G2, 2200m, dirt) for 3-year-old colts—the final major prep leading toward the Gran Premio Nacional(G1), which will bring the Triple Crown to a close next month.

The landscape looks wide open following the export of Hand In Hand (Il Campione), winner of the Clásico Pedro E. y Manuel A. Martínez (G3), and the suspension handed down to Fletcher (Gershwin) due to a positive medication test in the Gran Premio Polla de Potrillos (G1), leaving plenty of hopefuls eager to punch a first-class ticket to the Derby and claim the 22,320,000-peso winner's purse.

A field of 14 was entered on Monday, highlighted by the presence of Paulo Sil (Treasure Beach), who finished as the runner-up to Hand In Hand in the Martínez but remains a maiden.

Joining him are Cool Bro (Pneumatic), Cool Francis (Cool Day), El Gibson (Uncle Chuck), Fuerte y Claro (Daniel Boone), Héroe Con Gloria (Marconi), Mister Volare (Hi Happy), Pancho Gio (Caravaggio), Pillo Puntano (Village King), Sátrapa (Pneumatic), Sifnos (Equal Stripes), Talk to Me (Fortify), Thunder Bomb (Hit It a Bomb), and Tres Otoños (Gershwin).

Meanwhile, on Monday, October 12, Hipódromo de Palermo will also offer racegoers another of its landmark features: the Clásico Vicente L. Casares (G3, 2500m, dirt) for 4-year-olds and up, carrying a winner's prize of 16,390,000 pesos.

Among the 10 entries, the spotlight falls on the expected return of Butterfing (Angiolo), the winner of the Gran Premio de Honor (G1) who has not raced since finishing fourth in the Gran Premio República Argentina (G1).

Standing in his way could be Aspero Soy (Equal Stripes), El Estanciero (Fire Slam), Holy Holy Rim (Remote), King Honorius (Equal Stripes), Mandalorian (Treasure Beach), Nassau (Forge), Santo Rey (Santillano), Sono Perfetto(Tetaze), and The Great Forest (The Great Day).
