LA PLATA.– After looking at the entries taken this Friday at the racetrack of this city, the question grows even louder: what is the reason behind introducing (and in such large numbers) alternative category races that will offer purses equivalent to just 45 percent of what is currently paid? As if money were overflowing...

There will be racing in the south on Sunday the 21st, Tuesday the 23rd, and Thursday the 25th of this month, and it will be on the first of those dates when the highest-caliber commitment takes place.

Turn speed will take center stage with one of its most important stakes of the season, the Clásico General Manuel Belgrano (G2), which will measure all horses 3 years old and up over 1200 meters.

No fewer than 25 runners were entered, within a list that features El Resero Con Capa (Angiolo), the mare Calle de Tierra (Strategos), and Valdobbio (Hit It a Bomb) as the strongest names.

Also nominated were: Azucar Negro (Angiolo), Crispado Key (Key Deputy), El Gran Star (Grand Reward), Emm Yugo (Emmanuel), Equal Romano (Equal Legítimo), Full Nostalgioso (Full Mast), Hit It a Bou (Hit It a Bomb), Huracán Risk (Security Risk), Imgaramo (Víctor Security), Last Word (Le Blues), Let Me Dance (Le Blues), Lindo Pibe (Lenovo), Linkeame (Safety Check), Mago Beto (Dabster), Mis Padres (Tantos Años), Redentor Scat(Knockout), Rhaenyra Sex (Sexólogo Joy), Rodo (Flowing Rye), Señor Moon (E Dubai), Sky Port (Puerto Real), Vendaval Joy (Roman Joy), and Vikingo Real (Seahenge).

The other stakes race of the upcoming week at La Plata will arrive on Tuesday the 23rd. It is the Clásico Ignacio Correas (1600 m, dirt), for horses 3 years old and up under weight-for-age conditions, which drew 14 potential contenders and promises a quality show.

The well-known Sabiyano (Fortify), Campo Verde (Strategos), Don Zahir (Daddy Long Legs), El Ernesto (Señor Candy), Liberto (Hurricane Cat), and Vampiro Zen (Zensational) appear as the top stars.

Joining them in the starting gates could be: Bombay Lake (Anjiz Lake), El Gran Star, Irenia (Suggestive Boy), Notable Island (Lizard Island), Purple Nich (Nicholas), Rhaenyra Sex, Río New (Hurricane Cat), and Rodo.

Declarations and jockey commitments, as always, will be received until 11 a.m. next Monday, after which the definitive programs will be structured.
