Hipódromo de Palermo is set for a transitional week, featuring a brace of racing programs anchored by a solitary stakes race. The downtown track will open its gates on Saturday, July 18, and Monday, July 20, offering cards composed primarily of intermediate-level contests.
The week's centerpiece will take place during Saturday’s massive 18-race program, headlined by the Clásico Japón (L-1400m), a weight-for-age test for four-year-olds and upward contested on the turf auxiliary track. A select group of seven confirmed runners will face the starter, with class represented at the top by the talented trio of Kopke (Hi Happy), Río New (Hurricane Cat), and Envidioso Frank (Gidu). They will be joined in the starting gates by Bluclette Rim(Remote), Sebi Torres (Orpen), Calladito (Qué Vida Buena), and Talented Hit (Hit It a Bomb).
Saturday's card will also feature twin divisions of the Especial Encuentro Provincial Invierno (1000m, dirt). The sophomore division has attracted a large field of 16 confirmed juveniles, including Bambiño (El Moisés), Solazo Bom(Seize), Despintado (Safety Check), Harry El Sucio (Daniel Boone), Venerado (Pneumatic), Malcriado (Touareg), Law and Order (Le Blues), Rayo de Triomphe (Luck Money), Fiel Holiday (Smart Holiday), El Darín (Nashville Texan), My Wind (Il Campione), Filoso Mask (Mask), Super Junior (Seize), Daisy Texana (Nashville Texan), La Caldenada (South Kissing), and Pan y Vino (Qué Vida Buena).
Meanwhile, the companion division reserved for older horses features an 11-horse lineup consisting of Amiguito Chatero(Todo un Amiguito), Quotidiano (Holy Boss), Bello Chino (Malenchini), Compa Bob (Best Bob), Soy Perseguido(Trenzado), Equal Hidden (Equal Legítimo), Emperador Sound (Long Island Sound), Pétreo Pituco (Storm Pétreo), Chuck Spring (Chuck Berry), Christian Dream (Mootasadir), and Marriets (Mario's Van).
Action returns on Monday, July 20, with a 15-race card centered around the Handicap Jorge H. Iglesias (1800m, dirt), a route race for fillies and mares four years old and upward. The demanding high weight of 58 kilos has been assigned to It's My Look (Equal Stripes), who will defend her position against Always Funny (Fortify, 52.5 kg), Sir Brave(Lencelot, 51 kg), Black Babe (Treasure Beach, 53 kg), Existing (Winning Prize, 55 kg), Will Sound (Long Island Sound, 48.5 kg), Hidden Vision (Puerto Escondido, 54 kg), Reina Casada (Long Island Sound, 57.5 kg), Embrace It(Daddy Long Legs, 55.5 kg), and Citadelle (Fortify, 53 kg).
