The Clásico Perú Promises to Be Another Highlight of the Week

It will be held on Monday over 1800 meters on the Palermo dirt track, featuring champions Drive Joy and Earth God as the headliners
A total of 31 races will be held across the three meetings finalized this Monday by Hipódromo de Palermo for the upcoming week, with racing set for Friday the 24th, Monday the 27th, and Thursday the 30th of this month.
The centerpiece will arrive on Monday with the Clásico Perú (G2-1800m, dirt), one of the strongest mid-distance races of the second half of the year for older horses. Out of the 10 original entries, the only scratch was Majority Wins (Master of Hounds), leaving a field of nine contenders set to battle for glory and a share of the 16,600,000 pesos top purse.
Without a doubt, it is a stellar showdown featuring champions Drive Joy (Fortify), the top 2-year-old colt of 2025, and Earth God (Cosmic Trigger), a leading miler from last season. Both arrive fresh off finishing third and fourth, respectively, in the Gran Premio Estrellas Mile (G1) on the turf at Hipódromo de San Isidro.
Aroma Rim (Remote), Hop On (Endorsement), Nevado Catedral (Gouverneur Morris), Private Blend (Lucullan), Speedmaster (Fortify), Tryman (Safety Check), and Western Orpen (Orpen) will round out the field in a must-watch event.
On Friday, the spotlight will fall on the Handicap Juan Bautista Udaondo (1200m, dirt) for winners 5 years old and up, which was divided into two divisions following a healthy total of 20 ratifications. The first division is highlighted by the presence of Rugiente (Il Campione) and Hit Rouge (Hit It a Bomb), while the second division features Despacito(Sabayón), who comes in nicely weighted with just 59 1/2 kg.
Looking ahead to the card on Thursday the 30th, the feature will be the Handicap Bernardo A., Adolfo P. y Aníbal J. Giovanetti, reserved for fillies and mares 4 years old and up over 1400 meters on the main track.
Filippiada (Il Mercato, 59 kg.), Happy Star (Fortify, 57 1/2 kg.), and Tac-Tac (Manipulator, 57 kg.) will carry the top weights among the eight confirmed runners.
