While the fields for the Gran Premio de Honor (G1) and Gran Premio Gilberto Lerena (G1) were set on Monday, the remaining stakes for the week at Palermo were finalized this Tuesday.
This Saturday, the opening legs of the Campeonato Palermo de Oro will share the spotlight with the Clásico Benito Villanueva (G2-1600m), the last key prep for the Gran Premio de las Américas - OSAF (G1).
A field of 7 will go to the post, headlined by G1 winner Comando Secreto (War Command) along with Nevado Categral (Gouverneur Morris), Liberto (Hurricane Cat), Preston Boss (Holy Boss), and Majority Wins (Master of Hounds). Le Bang (Le Blues) and Tryman (Safety Check) complete the lineup.
The 15-race program—after 5 races were scrapped—begins at 1:45 p.m. The stakes action kicks off with the Lerena(4:45 p.m.), followed by the Honor (5:45 p.m.) and the Villanueva (6:45 p.m.).
Management has announced over 192 million pesos in guaranteed pools and betting increments. A special "roulette" bonus between 3 and 10 million pesos will be applied to races with at least 8 starters if the betting favorite wins.
On Monday, April 6, the focus shifts to the Clásico Estados Unidos de América (G3-1000m), a designated prep for the Gran Premio Ciudad de Buenos Aires (G1) for 3-year-olds and up.
Division leader Le Cornette (Emmanuel) puts his undefeated seasonal record on the line as he campaigns for the 2024 Champion Sprinter title. He faces 8 challengers: El Mejor Recuerdo (Il Campione), La Bella Otero (Daddy Long Legs), Lyon (Le Blues), Manchini (Malenchini), Primer Amor (Manipulator), Tormenta China (Malenchini), and Vendaval Joy (Fortify). The race is carded as the third on the program at 4:15 p.m.
