A field of 11 will contest the 2,400 meters of the Group 3 event, a key prep for the Clásico Copa de Oro (G1); Neat Colt, Honest Boy, and the return of Crazy Talent add tremendous intrigue to a highly competitive affair

With December on the horizon and the Clásico Copa de Oro (G1) as the next major milestone, the stayers will have an important date this Saturday in the Clásico Yatasto (G3-2,400 m). Tasked with kicking off the slate of four graded stakes on the Gran Premio Jockey Club (G1) card, the race drew 11 entrants and offers an appealing blend of current form, back class, and intriguing questions.

Among those arriving with the momentum of recent success, Don Logrado (Fortify) stands out. Representing Stud San Benito, the winner of four races comes in riding a three-race winning streak. His gradual rise led him to capture the Clásico Cocles (L) and subsequently the Clásico General Pueyrredón (G3), the longest race on the calendar, over 3,000 meters. Now returning to 2,400 meters against tougher opposition, he will look to prove that his ascent still has chapters left to be written.

His stamina is well proven; this time, he must match it against rivals accustomed to major battles. He will be one of five horses saddled by trainer Carlos Daniel Etchechoury, whose massive presence will carry significant weight in both the pace and the final outcome.

Also hailing from the same barn is Honest Boy (Heliostatic), a proven marathon specialist and winner of the 2025 Gran Premio 25 de Mayo (G1). Health setbacks have disrupted his consistency, but his class remains beyond question. Finishing sixth in the Carreras de las Estrellas Classic (G1) while running below expectations, he will attempt to rediscover the high-caliber form that once elevated him among the top stayers in the country.

Meanwhile, Neat Colt (Treasure Beach) returns to the San Isidro turf, the scene of his signature triumph in the aforementioned Classic. His subsequent outing in the Gran Premio General San Martín (G1) at Palermo yielded an uninspiring performance. Returning to a course where he has produced his finest efforts fuels optimism, though he must demonstrate that he can stretch his lethal 2,000-meter punch out to 2,400 meters.

Finishing second in that Palermo feature was Cazador de Areco (Long Island Sound), another Dany trainee whose strong recent form demands respect. Within the same stable, Stud Las Monjitas will field a dual entry with Friends Are Friends (Cityscape) and Señor Sandro (Cityscape), both backed by solid performances that give them every right to contend.

One of the meeting's biggest attractions will be the return of Crazy Talent (Equal Talent), sidelined since an uncharacteristic effort in the last renewal of the Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini (G1). Following a 294-day layoff, the seasoned Group 1 winner returns to familiar territory. Fourth in the 2024 Pellegrini, he boasts class to spare, though such a lengthy absence naturally leaves his readiness a question mark.

A different question surrounds Time to Think (Seahenge). A year ago, he captured this very same stakes by a commanding 10 lengths over Equal Mostaza (Equal Stripes) on a wet track, though he failed to maintain that momentum afterward. The lingering threat of rain introduces an element that could work heavily in his favor: if he encounters similar testing conditions, he might well replicate that dominant performance.

Curious Song (Sixties Song), possessing class and the speed to clear to the lead, could prove decisive in dictating the tempo. The Brazilian-bred Oh L’Amour (Drosselmeyer) comes off a runner-up finish in the Handicap Stiletto, while Silver Ya (Winning Prize) rounds out the field just two weeks after claiming victory in the Clásico Domingo Faustino Sarmiento (L).

There are compelling arguments for several contenders, yet enough variables to keep any single horse from looking invincible. The Yatasto promises a thrilling contest, with plenty at stake as the stayers begin to line up their road map toward the season-ending marathons.
