The son of The Great Day took the Clásico Antártida Argentina (L) and is a bet for the big races to come

Another stakes race for 2-year-olds at San Isidro Racecourse, and another victory for a son of The Great Day. A few weeks ago, Enter the Club took the Congreve (L), and this Sunday, The Great Terms prevailed in the Antártida Argentina (L-1,200 m), consolidating the dominance—at least for now—of the stallion in the selective process on the turf.
There was, however, another cause for concern: only 4 participants took part—El Volka (Vekoma) and Pasos Al Costado (Nicholas) were absent from the appointment—in a trend that is worrying and suggests that in the coming years it will be very difficult, if not impossible, to sustain the presence of so many black-type races in the country for young specimens during the first semester.
On the track, The Great Terms maintained his undefeated status under the same circumstances in which he had won on debut in mid-January. The bay ran last and somewhat uncomfortable during almost the entire diagonal, while Cenicienta Hit (Hit It a Bomb) set the pace.
Once in the straight, Risitas Pass (Distinctiv Passion) took the lead and tried to break away. Hemmed in, Lautaro Balmaceda pulled the winner out from the rails at the 400-meter mark; the colt changed leads and from then on, with a long, wide stride that promises better performance over longer distances, he began to make up ground to sweep past.
At the wire, it was 2 1/2 lengths over Risitas Pass, with Principesca Bella (Made You Look) in third another 5 lengths back, and Cenicienta Hit closing the frame 8 1/2 lengths behind the winner who, by the way, was the only male in the field. The race time was 1m9s56/100 on a firm surface.
Bred by Haras Firmamento and prepared by Omar Labanca from his base at the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo, The Great Terms is the best foal to date out of Terms Rye (Catcher In the Rye), a maternal sister to the G2 winner Terms Holiday (Harlan’s Holiday), both out of the remembered Terms Parade (Parade Marshal), a high-class middle-distance performer in the mid-2000s.
