The La Mission, Ensayo, and Vilmar Sanguinetti form the centerpiece of Saturday's card at San Isidro

A stellar card is set to kick off the weekend action in the north, with racing also scheduled for Sunday and Wednesday

If expectations hold, an unmissable Saturday of racing is on tap at Hipódromo de San Isidro, featuring a stellar stakes tripleheader. The fillies and mares will begin their march toward the Gran Premio Copa de Plata (G1) in the Clásico La Mission (G2) over 2,000 meters, while the Clásico Ensayo (G3—1,800 m, turf) serves as the local prep for the Gran Premio Jockey Club (G1). Meanwhile, 3-year-old colts will clash over 1,400 meters in the Clásico Vilmar Sanguinetti.

A field of 11 fillies and mares was nominated for the race honoring the only quadruple crown winner in history, highlighted by three-time champion Charm (Strategos), who will look to get back into the winner's circle after a pair of unexpected setbacks. Standing in her way could be graded stakes winners Portal Maya (Portal del Alto), Tía Corazón(Besitos), Igual No Soy (John F Kennedy), Noche Alta (Hi Happy), and Soy La Líder (Manipulator), alongside Argomasa (Lucullan), Full Serenity (Full Mast), Olimpia de Epiro (Southern Cat), Romana Craf(Mastercraftsman), and Splash Park (Safety Check).

The Ensayo, meanwhile, attracted 10 probable contenders: Barto (Pneumatic), Crazy (Treasure Beach), Don Pacto(Pneumatic), Full Lujoso (Full Mast), Giannino (King Guillermo), Hi Pocho (Hi Happy), Redemption Song(Outstrip), Rugbier Boy (Suggestive Boy), Sarraceno (Daddy Long Legs), and Soberano Boone (Daniel Boone).

The Sanguinetti also shapes up as a competitive affair on paper. The 12 prospective entries are: Cautivador(Pneumatic), Earth Day (Cosmic Trigger), El Descamisado (Strategos), Future Mind (Daniel Boone), Igor(Treasure Beach), Let Go (Pneumatic), Lunfardo (Daddy Long Legs), Negro de Pergamino (Hi Happy), Opinium(King Guillermo), Sam Bushido (Pneumatic), Scratch Nick (Seize), and Wek End Pass (Distinctiv Passion).

Action at the northern track will continue on Sunday, August 30, and Wednesday, September 2. The latter program features the Clásico Refinado Tom (L—1,200 m, dirt) for 4-year-olds and up, which drew nominations for Colour Visión (Univisión), Despacito (Sabayón), El Cobra Kai (Cosmic Trigger), Garufa Mask (Mask), Glorioso Rim(Remote), Liverpool Blues (Le Blues), Oro Azteca (Empire Aztec), Príncipe Soñado (Fragotero), Rugiente (Il Campione), and Say It Fast (Cosmic Trigger).
