Fully Subscribed appears as a top contender for an unmissable G1, while Chasten seeks to replicate the victory achieved by her sister Idiomatic

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (Special for Turf Diario).— Family traditions are the soul of horse racing, and this weekend at Churchill Downs—specifically on Kentucky Oaks (G1) day—the family of Juddmonte homebred Lockdown will seek to write a golden new chapter. The stakes winner and daughter of First Defence was a gallant third in the 2017 Oaks, but her daughter Idiomatic (Curlin) surpassed that mark by prevailing in the 2024 La Troienne Stakes (G1). Now, it is Chasten's turn to follow in her big sister's hoofsteps in the $1,000,000 renewal of that same race, facing 10 rivals over 1,700 meters.

Unlike Idiomatic, who arrived at this race after being crowned the 2023 Champion Older Dirt Female, Chasten comes in as a 6-1 morning-line choice after stringing together victories in an allowance at Fair Grounds and the Sandy Bottom Stakes (L) at Colonial Downs. "It is a big ask," admitted trainer Brad Cox. "But based on her figures, she fits, and I love how she is training. I think it is worth the shot". Like her sister, the daughter of Into Mischief seems to be blossoming at age 4. "I feel she has taken a step forward. We missed a good part of last year, but she has returned as a better version of herself," added the trainer.

However, Chasten will not have it easy, starting with her own stablemate: Bless the Broken (Laoban). Defending the colors of Qatar Racing, she was third in the 2025 Kentucky Oaks and is coming off a second-place finish to the speedy Splendora (Audible) in the Beholder Mile (G1) at Santa Anita. "Bless the Broken worked alongside Chasten last week and it was a spectacular move; I think she is ready for a big performance," noted Cox.

On the other hand, Chad Brown appears extremely enthusiastic about the reappearance of Fully Subscribed. The daughter of Tiz the Law, who closed out her 2025 with victories in the Mother Goose (G2) and the Comely (G3), dazzled in her final breeze at Churchill Downs (800 meters in 47s 2/5). "Her works have been fabulous. Although you always prefer to have a prep race before a G1, her drills indicate she has evolved notably since her 3-year-old campaign," the trainer commented regarding the 7-2 second choice.

The morning line is led by Shred the Gnar (3-1), another daughter of Into Mischief seeking redemption after a lackluster performance in the Royal Delta (G3) at Gulfstream Park. That afternoon she fell by 19 lengths, but the return to Churchill Downs—where she is undefeated in two starts—seems to have restored her spark. "Shred the Gnar has turned a corner since arriving in Kentucky. Her coat and her weight are much better here," explained Hunter Rankin, president of Flying Dutchmen.

Finally, there is Nerazurri (Protonico), the Mark Casse trainee who was relegated to 20-1 after a poor showing in the Apple Blossom (G1). "She had a very complicated trip last time; she never had a chance. We know she is much better than that, and this is the stage to prove it," concluded the trainer.
