After winning the Megahertz Stakes (G3), now the daughter of Muwaary will run in the Buena Vista Stakes (G2) against Thought Process

After her triumphant passage into the history books, the outstanding Princesa Moche returns to action this Saturday on the Santa Anita Park turf, seeking to ratify her standing in the Buena Vista Stakes (G2 - 1,600 m, turf, US$ 200,000). The daughter of Muwaary, who became the first mare born in Peru to win a graded stakes in the United States, now faces a challenge that will measure her ability to repeat against a high-flying field.
Under the training of Doug O’Neill, the defender of Rancho San Roberto Inc. is coming off a brave victory in the Megahertz Stakes (G3), where she set the terms from the jump to resist the final charge of her rivals by just a neck. Imported last summer from Hipódromo de Monterrico, the 6-year-old bay will once again have the riding of Mirco Demuro, who already perfectly knows the temperament of the mare.
However, the road to the winner's circle will not be easy. In her path, she once again crosses with Vibez, the pupil of Peter Eurton who shadowed the Peruvian in her last outing. On that occasion, the daughter of Collected flew at the end after running last, coming within nothing of catching the leader. With Juan Hernández back in the stirrups, the rematch is set at a distance where she feels extremely comfortable.
The return of the very fast Thought Process adds a touch of class to the contest. The Phil D'Amato trainee has not competed since her third-place finish in the Del Mar Oaks (G1) in August, but her credentials speak for themselves: winner of the San Clemente Stakes (G2) and the Surfer Girl Stakes (G3).
The Chilean Héctor Berríos will be at the reins of the chestnut, who boasts a campaign of 5 wins in 8 starts and seeks to return to the path of success in her debut as a 4-year-old.
The roster is completed by the presence of the consistent Grand Slam Smile (Smiling Tiger). The pupil of Sean McCarthy, winner of 8 stakes and with a bankroll exceeding 800,000 dollars, will attempt to finally achieve her first graded victory after dominating the circuit for California-bred horses.
On this occasion, she will be ridden for the first time by the Japanese international Kazushi Kimura, forming a high-impact field for one of the great events of the day on the Camino Real.
