All is set for a blockbuster Saturday at Palermo, with 19 races on tap and 600,000,000 pesos to be distributed in guaranteed pools and bonuses

A blockbuster afternoon awaits at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo this Saturday, with a 19-race program headlined by the G1 Polla de Potrillos (1600m, dirt), the G1 Polla de Potrancas (1600m, dirt) and the G1 General San Martín (2400m, turf).
Entries and post positions were confirmed Tuesday, with the card set to kick off at 12:30 p.m. and wrap up around 9:30 p.m. In addition to the marquee events, several short but intriguing allowance contests will add depth, including the Premio Pulp Fiction (2200m, dirt) for 3-year-old maidens pointing toward the G2 Eduardo Casey; the Premio El Kodigo (1000m, dirt) for sophomore fillies with one win; and the Premio Arrabalera (1600m, dirt) for 3-year-old fillies still seeking their first score.
The General San Martín, slotted as race eight at 4:00 p.m., will serve not only as the final leg of the Palermo Oro Verde Championship, but also as the likely qualifier to determine the track’s representative in the G1 Gran Premio Latinoamericano at Rio de Janeiro’s Gávea on Oct. 18.
The Polla de Potrancas follows at 5:00 p.m. (race 10), with the Polla de Potrillos staged as race 13 at approximately 6:30 p.m., setting up a double feature of the highest order.
On the wagering front, a record ARS $600 million will be distributed through guarantees and carryovers, highlighted by two Pick Fours with a ARS $1000 base wager: the opener carries a ARS $100 million boost, while the late sequence (race 16) will guarantee the same amount. The innovative “Ruleta de la Suerte” bet will also appear in seven races, offering additional pools ranging from ARS $5 million to ARS $20 million.
With the weather forecast favorable, total handle is projected to surpass ARS $2 billion, underscoring the magnitude of one of the most important days on the Argentine racing calendar.
